Mortal Oath Q&A (Foxhound Games)

We had the opportunity to speak with Foxhound Games, a new studio operating under Hacksaw’s OpenRGS platform, to discuss their debut slot release, Mortal Oath, which launched on 15th February. During the conversation, we explored the vision behind the studio, the inspiration driving their first title, and what players can expect from Foxhound Games in the future. What makes Foxhound Games stand out?

It comes down to how we approach game design. We think about our games the way you would think about a video game, strong narrative first, and mechanics that are built around that story. The characters, the visual style, the bonus features, they are all tied to that narrative and designed to make the player feel like they are part of something. That is just how we build, and we think players feel that difference.

Tell us about the inspiration for Mortal Oath!

The inspiration for Mortal Oath came from Japanese yokai mythology, a world full of dark, powerful creatures that felt like the perfect foundation for the story we wanted to tell. We built the game around a demon hunter bound by oath to protect the human realm against these ancient evils, and that concept shaped everything. The character, his weapons, the enemies he faces, the entire visual world around him, it all grew from that mythology.

Any big plans you can share for 2026?

2026 is shaping up to be a really exciting year for us. We can’t say too much just yet, but we have new titles in the works, each one pushing things further. We can’t wait for people to see what we’ve been building.

Can you tell us anything about your next release?

We’re keeping this one close for now, but it’s following the dark, immersive direction we’re setting at Foxhound Games and taking it a step further. We’re really excited about where it’s heading. Stay tuned!
