Opal Fruits Slot Review – Big Time Gaming

Today we are going back to the year 2019 to learn all about a forgotten Big Time Gaming release. I have been reviewing a long list of old games to remember a lot of slots that now feel forgotten. Big Time Gaming is a well-known studio that has many popular slot releases. For this review, we are learning all about one of my personal favourite studio releases. The slot in question is titled ‘Opal Fruits‘, originally released 30th May 2019.

This slot has 1980s retro visuals and a funky soundtrack playing. The Big Time Gaming CEO Nik Robinson said: “Opal Fruits Is All About High Turnover With Low Stakes‘. The visuals are stunning yet simple with a colourful galaxy background and bright symbol designs. Overall, I love the visual style and artwork created for this game. Big Time Gaming always surprises with unique visual aspects and themes.

Opal Fruits has a setup of 6 reels by 3 rows, this includes 5,625 pay lines. This slot is high variance with a set RTP of 96.75% and max win capped at 36,600x. You can bet from £0.10 – £20.

There are also extra reels above and below reels 2,3 and 4. These reels have 4 symbols and are useful for symbol combinations, these reels spin the same as the normal main game. This game has ‘Reactions’ so when symbols are part of a win, they explode and new symbols fall into their place.

Opal Fruits Pay Table & Symbols

This slot has 12 symbols in total, this includes 6 low paying symbols. These are represented by 9,10, J, Q, K, and A. There are also 4 premium symbols represented by fruits, Pears, blueberries, watermelons, and grapes. Grapes is the highest paying symbol rewarding 50x for 6 across all reels. The premium is purple just like Extra Chilli and Bonanza which seems to be common now from the provider. There are also rainbow wilds that appear as regular wilds or with multipliers of 3x. These multipliers are combined and multiplied by each other and add together on the same column to create some insane wins. These x3 wilds only appear in the base game.

The scatters are split into 4 different symbols with letters spelling ‘FREE’, this is identical to the bonanza scatters spelling ‘GOLD‘. But instead of the possibility +4 free spins landing when, you trigger the bonus feature multipliers land instead of extra spins. These multipliers start the win multiplier higher up than the usual trigger. You can land x5 then every additional increase the win multiplier by 10x.

Opal Fruits Features

To trigger the bonus feature you need to land the 4 golden scatters to spell ‘FREE‘, you can land starting multipliers for the free spins feature when triggered. When you get the multiplier to 10x during these spins you are awarded +5 extra free spins. But if you trigger this bonus with the starting multiplier of 10x, you are automatically given the +5 free spins for the feature.

The normal trigger will award you 10 free spins with a starting multiplier of 1x. Each symbol win combination will increase the win multiplier by 1x. Very common in most Big Time Gaming releases. With both extra reels in play, this bonus feature is very volatile and unique. Wilds do appear in these free spins but do not have the x3 multipliers included, instead just regular wilds in play due to the increasing win multiplier already being in play.

Conclusion

Overall, I must say I am impressed by this Big Time Gaming release. Both the base game and free spins feature are unique and equally volatile. There are also combining x3 wilds in play for the base game, then the increasing multiplier in the free spins. The addition of two extra reels is fantastic and really improves the hit rate.
