Rise Of Merlin Slot Review – Play’n Go

Well, Play’n Go are not stopping in 2019. They have so many games lined up ready for upcoming months. I recently reviewed ‘Inferno Star‘ which showed nothing innovative or new and ‘Game Of Gladiators‘ which was interesting and had some potential. So I am hoping for something that will surprise me from the provider. Well, next in the lineup we have a slot titled ‘Rise Of Merlin,’ which is set to release 20th June. Let’s find out more about this in our casino slot game review!

Rise Of Merlin Title Picture

Rise Of Merlin is a fantasy-themed game with somewhat basic graphics. I feel like some of Play’n Go’s games looked rushed due to their long line up of titles already announced. I think providers such as Quickspin releasing a game once a month is a lot better as it seems more work is put into their creations. Providers that release more frequently seem to use the same basic mechanics and have basic artwork/graphics, which is a shame. Rise Of Merlin has simple artwork and an essential background.

The games set up is 5 reels by 3 rows, this includes 1-10 set Pay lines.  This slot is high variance due to the max win being capped at 5,000x and a set RTP of 96.58%. You can bet from £0.01-£100 due to the ability to choose pay lines.

Rise Of Merlin Slot Review Symbols

This slot has 10 symbols in total; this includes 5 low paying symbols. These are represented by 10, J, Q, K, And A. There are also four premium symbols, these are represented by owls, white/blue dragons, red dragons and Merlin himself. The highest paying symbol is Merlin; this symbol pays 500x for five across a pay line. There is also a crystal ball which is a wild and scatter symbol.

Rise Of Merlin Slot Review Features

So central to this slot is the free spins feature, this is activated when you land three crystal ball scatters on any reels. This will award you 8 free spins, and one symbol will also be selected at random to become an expanding symbol. This mechanic is seen in so many slots now, and I feel, it is overused now. If your chosen symbols are low paying, you require 3+ for an expansion to occur and If your selected symbols is a premium symbol, you need 2+ for an extension to occur. You can retrigger this feature bu landing 3 crystal ball scatters during the free spins; this will award an additional eight free spins and also another randomly selected expanding symbol. So plays very similar to ‘Magic Mirror Deluxe’ by Merkur which I enjoy playing, shame there’s no unique features in this slot.

Conclusion

It is really dull seeing the same mechanics used over and over again by the same provider, also interesting to see providers being ‘inspired’ by successful games by other providers. Play’n Go is a provider that disappoints currently with releases consistently with the same features and rushed visuals. Let’s hope we have something exciting and unique next. Either way, this game, as said before, will be available in June across all good casinos. Check them out for some exclusive deals to ChipmonkzSlots readers!
