Battle Royal Slot Review – Play’n Go
Today we look back to the year 2018 to learn all about a forgotten Play’n Go slot release. I have reviewed many 2019 studio releases, such as ‘Contact’ and ‘Golden Colts‘. I have also reviewed newer releases such as ‘Rabbit Hole Riches‘, which is one slot I am personally looking forward to. Today we go back nearly 2 years to learn all about ‘Battle Royal‘, originally released 12th December 2018.
The theme is King Henry the 8th and his lovely six wives. Divorced, Beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, and survived is how the song goes. This sums up each wife’s marriage with the king. The slot background is set in King Henry’s castle, with red flags hanging either side of the reel set and the castle interior. There is real detail within the visuals, especially seen in premium symbols which are the wives.
Battle Royal has a classic setup of 5 reels by 3 rows, this includes 20 set pay lines. This slot is high variance with a set RTP of 96.56% and max win capped at 5,000x. You can bet from £0.20 – £100.
Battle Royal Symbols & Pay Table
There are 12 symbols in total, this includes 4 low paying symbols. These are represented by the standard hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades. There are also 6 premium symbols, these are represented by blue, purple, green, red, orange, and yellow dressed wives. In addition to these regular symbols is king henry a full reel wild and a shield scatter. The highest paying symbol is the yellow dressed wive, which pays 30x for 5 across a pay line. Wilds substitute for all symbols except scatters.
Battle Royal Features
There are two features and free spins in this slot, the first feature is called ‘Long Live the King.’ When a scatter symbol lands on reels 1 and five you will be able to pick between the scatters to reveal a prize. You can activate the respins or enable the ‘Long Live the King’ feature. This feature is a picking feature, in which you pick chests to find coin values. You can keep clicking these chests until you find a ghost in one, you can find a key for a chance to escape and earn a mystery multiplier or keep clicking. Once a ghost is found you go back to the base game.
The second feature is called ‘Royal Flush,’ all low paying symbols on reels will all transform into a randomized symbol including all the wives. This will trigger randomly after spinning and can trigger some nice wins.
To activate the free spins you need to choose the right scatter when they land on reels 1 and 5. When activated you are asked to pick a wife to who you think will survive last in the beheadings. All will come with different coin values. If your chosen wife survives last, you will earn the coin value. Free spins will play until one wife remains. One Guillotine will fall onto a reel beheading the wife on the reel only if her head is on the reel and not already wild; this turns the symbol into a wild for the duration of the spins. If the guillotine falls on a reel with no wive present no one is beheaded.
When all but one wife is alive, you get to choose between all 5 reels randomly to find the last wife to behead her for Henry, but even if you pick the right reel which reveals her, the guillotine can fall on any reel. Rather gruesomely, if you kill her, you get extra money. Also, you also get to play the “Long Live the King” feature after. This bonus feature is entertaining to play. I enjoyed it, and there are added benefits with picking the right wife, and even after free spins are finished you can earn extra money.
Overall, I had so much fun playing this slot. The features help the balance stay healthy and can provide some nice big wins. The slot itself is very volatile with the max win of 5000x and Play’n Go did a great job producing this. Be sure to try out the slot for yourself if you haven’t already.
