Crystal Sun Slot Review – Play’n Go

After recent success with slot release ‘Contact,’ Play’n Go are already lining up new releases for the upcoming months. This includes ‘Phoenix Reborn‘ which we recently reviewed. But now we go from Aztec to outer space for their new slot titled ‘Crystal Sun,’ with a current release date of ‘24th April‘. Let’s go into the cosmos and check out what’s behind the stars in our Crystal Sun slot review!

This slot has okay visuals but nothing very detailed, so they do their job. The background is a primary still image of outer space. The colouring is very vibrant; the slot takes up most of the screen, so you do not get distracted with other visuals. While spinning a soundtrack plays which reminds me of the one from another slot titled ‘Ticket To The Stars by Quickspin. This is probably down to similar theme choice though.

crystal sun slot review base game

The slot setup is 5 reels by 3 rows, which includes 10 set pay lines. Play’n Go has rated crystal sun 10/10 based on volatility. I do not agree with this due to the max win capped at 4,000x. The max gain feels very low for the type of slot and features included. I think a max win of 6,000x-8,000x is more suited for this release. This could be achieved with changes to the wild multipliers seen in the base game features. I also think the slot name could be tweaked to suit the slot theme more. Regardless, the design is quite interesting.

Crystal Sun Slot Review Paytable & Symbols

crystal sun symbols

Crystal Sun has 8 symbols in total which includes, 5 low paying symbols. These are represented by purple, gold and red planet symbols with outer arrows on each. Then an orange and green planet symbol with a simple round border around each. These symbols are fundamental and could be improved easily. There are also two high paying symbols represented by triple sevens and diamonds. Which is very basic for premium symbols. Then a wild symbol which substitutes for all symbols and triggers features. There is no scatter symbol due to the wild symbol triggering functions. Not bad overall.

Crystal Sun Slot Review Features

In the base game, you will only benefit from one feature named ‘Wild Re-spins,’ this is featured when a wild symbol lands on either 2,3 or 4, When a wild lands on these reels it will expand to cover the whole reel, the wilds will have a multiplier of 2x-3x. Then a respin is awarded where the wilds stick and other reels respin in the hope of another wild symbol Landing. If other lands, it will then expand and another respin plays. If no extra wild lands the spins return to normal. This concept is identical to NetEnt’s slot ‘Starburst,’ except with the multiplier addition. Of course, the casino community would never play such a slot. If you want to see real action, go check out our Twitch stream here.

crystal feature

You can land a max of 3 full reel wilds which can add up to a multiplier of 9x; you can only be awarded a max of 3 respins due to wilds only expanding on 3 reels which is just odd. Why would you not have wilds being able to expand on all reels for the chance at a full screen? This would entice casino players to play this slot more than just a boring 3 full reels wild. Just sound more volatile if you offer the chance at a full-screen wild.

Conclusion

Overall, I think this slot needs some improvements to be successful. The slot was very boring to test, and I feel the slot needs to be revamped with additions of features. The slot plays identical to Starburst and is nothing original by Play’n Go. I am very disappointed, but I can see some players being attracted by the slot either way. Give it a chance when it releases on all good casino sites here, where you can find exclusive offers. Regardless, average down the line.
