Red Tiger Gaming used to be a very underrated provider, but now known as one of the best in the casino industry. Over the years they have made vast improvements, which has really helped in the long run. Their slots always benefit from their impressive graphics/artwork. I recently reviewed ‘Vicky Ventura‘ which includes very unique features unheard of in the casino community. Red Tiger always finds a way to make some releases innovative which I feel players love. But now they have announced a new title which shocked me and confused me. Their next release is titled ‘Reel King Mega‘ which has a current release date of ‘9th May‘.
This slot seems to be an updated version of the original iconic Reel King slot. The original was released in 2014 by Greentube / Novomatic. But now we have a freshly updated version thanks to the partnership with Astra and Red Tiger Gaming to improve the iconic graphics and features. Well, they have done a fantastic job recreating this concept, the graphics are very detailed with vibrant colours. We have the original iconic sound effects while you spin and even additional features included.
This slot has a setup of 5 reels by 3 rows, which includes 20 pay lines. The set RTP is 96% which is the standard percentage on most slots. The original Reel King was known for the high volatility and gamble ladder. But this version has a capped max win of 500x which just lets the whole slot down dramatically. I feel this statistic will put off a lot of lovers of the original version.

This slot has 8 symbols in total which includes, 4 low paying symbols. These are represented by J,10, plums and cherries. These symbols have the same art style as the original slot. There are also 3 high paying symbols represented by, Q.K and a golden coin bag. The golden coin bag is the highest paying symbol rewarding 50x for 5 across a pay line. There is also a wild symbol which substitutes for all symbols.
Reel King Mega Slot Review Features
This slot has two base game features which can be activated, the first is called ‘Reel King’. This feature is from the original release, this is activated when all reels are highlighted with a yellow background when the reels land. Each reel king character that appears on each reel will spin its own special reel set for guaranteed wins, this will spin until it lands a losing spin and will disappear. The dream is for 5 to appear, one on each reel.
The second additional feature is called ‘Kings Crown’, the kings crown may randomly bounce around the screen and hit 1 or more symbols. This will result in the hit symbols turning into wilds.
Conclusion
Overall, this slot was so much fun to test out. But I am so disappointed about the max win being capped at 500x. This statistic has completely let this release down. It visually looks superb and plays like the icnonic original. But tweaks must be made to the volatility for this to be a success and draw in lovers of the original.
