Wild Swarm 2 (Push Gaming)
We recently had the chance to speak with Bohdan Svinchuk, Art Director at Push Gaming. With the recent launch of their new game,Wild Swarm 2, we were eager to delve into the details of the game and discuss the future plans for the company. Read on to see what was discussed in this Wild Swarm 2 Q&A ;
Thanks for taking the time to talk to us, firstly, in your own opinion, what elements do slots require to succeed?
There are a whole host of different factors that have to be taken into account when developing any new online slot game. Sometimes a title finds success on the back of one specific feature, mechanic or design element, but more often than not it requires the perfect storm of all three. Looking at this solely from a design perspective, the key to creating a successful slot is adding life to the reels, making it vivid, fun and engaging.

Can you talk us through the overall creative process when developing design assets for a slot such as Wild Swarm 2?
When we started working on Wild Swarm 2 we were fortunate enough to be in a position in which we had an entire game to look back on for inspiration. Of course, we wanted to give players more of what they loved, but we also wanted to put a new spin on this release.
Familiarity is extremely important when creating a successful sequel, so we wanted to make sure that the setting for this game remained the same considering the original was much loved. In this new release, players are given a new insight into the Wild Swam world – they can see exactly how bee society has progressed since the last game as they explore the hive where life is buzzing.
It’s easy for suppliers to take the easy route and utilise old assets when developing sequels. What prompted Push Gaming to take a new approach to Wild Swam 2?
While it would have been easy to stick to what we already had, there was always a strong determination to take this game a step further and give it a fresh, new look. In Wild Swarm 2 we decided to showcase the evolution of the game and how it’s developed.
Approaching it this way has allowed us to really flesh out the wider world, opening the door for exciting new possibilities in the future. We think players will absolutely enjoy what we’ve done here.

How important is it to bring life to the characters (such as the bees in Wild Swarm) that appear in your games and do you think doing so gives a slot longevity?
It’s absolutely vital! Creating memorable characters helps breathe life into any game. The characters that feature in Wild Swarm are brimming with personality which is a testament to our amazing animators. Not only have they done an incredible job in making the characters look good, but they’ve done wonders in bringing the whole game world to life.
What do you think some suppliers are doing right when it comes to slot design, and what do you think they’re doing wrong?
I’m not a fan of when visuals are unclear and hard to read. However, the biggest sin for me is when assets are completely random and they don’t match or complement the mechanics at all. If you are doing it right, the game feels whole. When everything is working together it should transport the player into a world where they want to spend time and have some fun.
